Artist Bio
Hi, I’m Dana.
I’ve been immersed in the world of art for almost two decades. As I continue to wonder about life and art, I use gouache, to reflect my current fascinations—whether it’s the beauty of landscapes, the charm of everyday objects, or the architectural elegance of buildings.
My artistic journey often intertwines with my passion for cultural exploration into traditions, aesthetics, and philosophies from Japan and Russia, sparked by my love for language learning. I’ve studied language and culture for over 15 years, experiences that were deepened by visiting Japan, living in Russia, and creating friendships with people from these places.
I studied graphic design at BYU–Idaho and continue to grow my craft through workshops and online courses in painting and illustration. During college, my work was selected for publication in the catalog Outlet, and since then I’ve served as a graphic design judge for the Board Regional Leadership Conference in Idaho, and have taught painting workshops. My background as both a graphic designer and a painter—while seemingly opposite at times—has shaped my ideas into what they are today.
I want to inspire others to see the charm in the mundane, to celebrate the richness of diverse cultures, and to embrace their own sense of whimsy.
There is peace in exploration of art and in life.
